RE:Policy GI16 Habitat Creation and New Development
That new development {s (as appropriate) will be required to support local biodiversity and} (should provide opportunities to) incorporate biodiversity improvements through urban greening and the use of nature-based infrastructural solutions that are of particular relevance and benefit in an urban context. Opportunities should be taken as part of new development to provide a net gain in biodiversity.
Open public green spaces should be provided in the SDRA11 sites that maximise urban greening opportunities - the large field as part of this SDRA should be unfenced to promote wildlife paths across it, and should be grass to support biodiversity, prevent flooding and provide an open public green space for the whole community. More public open green spaces will have to be provided if the these fields are fenced and astroturf.
