Chapter 16: Monitoring and Implementation

The city performance indicators are too narrow. Other indicators that should be tracked include:

  • the total area of new pedestrianisation
  • length of protected cycle lanes built
  • number of on-street parking spaces in the DCC area
  • Number of trees planted, and number of trees cut down. Average age of trees in the area. Number of on-street trees per area
  • Number of Traveller accommodation places, and standard
  • Number of public electric car charging points
  • Land area of parks, and total area set aside for pollinators (native Irish plants, not planting for decoration)
  • Number of vacant and derelict properties. Number of properties brought back into use
  • Average size in m2 of new housing
  • Participation in Living City Initiative schemes
  • Level of biodiversity
  • Number of inactive planning permissions
