The city performance indicators are too narrow. Other indicators that should be tracked include:
- the total area of new pedestrianisation
- length of protected cycle lanes built
- number of on-street parking spaces in the DCC area
- Number of trees planted, and number of trees cut down. Average age of trees in the area. Number of on-street trees per area
- Number of Traveller accommodation places, and standard
- Number of public electric car charging points
- Land area of parks, and total area set aside for pollinators (native Irish plants, not planting for decoration)
- Number of vacant and derelict properties. Number of properties brought back into use
- Average size in m2 of new housing
- Participation in Living City Initiative schemes
- Level of biodiversity
- Number of inactive planning permissions
